Pie workshop´s Pie School at Joensuu Market Square

How can you tell if a Karelian pie crust in thin enough? And do you know what ”crimping” means and what you do with a pie stick? No worries – you`ll learn it all at pie school.

At the Pie Workshop next to Martta Café in Joensuu Market Square pies are made and learned in pie school classes open to everyone – both children and adults.

In summer 2026, pie school classes will be held during weeks 26-31 on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Participants who complete the class will get to taste baked good juice, coffee or tea, and will also receive a certificate as a keepsake. The price of the pie school is 25€ for adults and 15€ for children (under 15 years). The class will take place if there are at least three participants.

In addition, we organize Karelian pie workshops for groups of 6-10 people by reservation throughout the year. During the summer, the workshops are held at the Pie Workshop, and the winter at the Martta Centre. Workshops for groups of more than 10 people are always held at the Martta Centre, located by the Market Square.
